National animals

Every country has it's own national animal. But what exactly are national animals or birds? Well, they are cultural symbols of a certain country and they also represent the ideals of the people living in that certain country. So the national animal is chosen based on the chracteristics the people want to be associated with. Also by the animal's history and role in the traditions and the culture of the country. And the animal also must be...let's say good to look at. Some animals we expect to be national, some not so much. So let's start with the Czech Republic. The national animal of this country is the double-tailed lion. There are a couple of theories about the double-tailed lion. One of them being that new arms were granted to King Vladislaus II. from Emperor Frederick to symbolize his valor. At first the lion had its tail between its legs and the people laughed at it, saying it's an ape. Then the Emperor said that it should have two tails and a golden crown, something like that. But, you may have heard a different legend, because there are a couple of them. Then we have Scotland and it's very interesting national animal... a unicorn! It's odd but the country has a passion and love for history, myths and legends so it's quite suitable. The unicorn represents innocence, purity, healing powers, life it self, joy and strength and masculinity. Also the unicorn's mortal enemy is the lion. The lion is the national animal of England. Coincidence? I think not. And what is the national animal of Spain? The Bull. The animal is very important in Spanish culture and traditions. Bull fighting is a national sport in Spain and also The Running of The Bulls is very popular. Australia and it's national animal being the Red Kangaroo. But why exactly the Red Kangaroo? Well, the Kangaroo can not be mistaken for any other animal and at first glance you know that that thing is a Kangaroo. Then this animal's homeland is Australia. The animal is fairly common so people tend to know the animal. Also the Kangaroo can only move forward, symbolizing the nation moving forward and only. And they're interesting looking animals. By the way these animals are dangerous, they ain't fluffy and cuddly. What is the national animal of China? The Giant Panda. The west didn't know about this creatures existence until 1869. The Panda was also a subject of one of the first cultural exchanges between People's Republic of China and the U.S.A. The Panda is more than common, really lovable and simply popular between people. The national animal of Ireland is The Red Deer. It is simply majestic. They are the only native species in Ireland and are also the largest. They have a rich red-colored coat that tends to get darker towards winter. And here are some other national animals: Turkey- The Grey Wolf
